Art and Product Development: Holiday - Gather | Target Corporation | Released 2017
Gather was an Americana Christmas trend that Target asked me to bring to life through artwork and product development. It celebrated classic holiday heritage, folk traditions, and refined design. The collection was meant to embody the cozy feeling of gathering with friends and family around the warmth of the hearth.
I created a classic Santa wearing a retro-cool, quilted coat to build the collection around. I then developed a variety of cozy cabins tucked in a quiet winter forest to tell the story of gathering for the holidays. Hand-drawn details, quirky shapes, and light texture gave the art a folk feel.
The assortment of Gather products included wooden signs with hand-drawn text, plush characters in retro knits, classic and cool countdown calendars, vintage-inspired snow globes, and more!
Secondary icons and characters included fashionable snowmen, fancy forest critters, and holiday decor.
The core patterns for this collection featured natural elements like snowflakes, trees and winter botanicals. I made sure the style was classic but still fresh with a modern touch. The secondary patterns included an array of stripes and plaids, plus mark-making mini prints.
